For Immediate Release
Hanover –Hanover is hosting an information meeting on Tuesday April 4th for residents and community leaders to learn about the Age-Friendly Advisory Committee. The event will be held at 10:00am at the P & H Centre’s Lion’s Den.
As part of the Needs Assessment report presented to Council by Dr. John Lewis following the age-friendly surveys and focus groups, next steps included developing an Age-Friendly Advisory Committee. This session will provide insight to where Hanover is in the Age-Friendly Community process, what the Town’s next steps will be, as well as how to become a part of the Age Friendly Advisory Committee.
An age-friendly community is described as a community where policies, services and structures are designed to support and enable seniors to live in a secure environment, enjoy good health and continue to participate fully. Age-friendly is recognized by the World Health Organization and explores the following dimensions: community support and health services, outdoor spaces and buildings, transportation, housing, social participation, respect and social inclusion, communication and information and civic participation and employment.
Hanover residents, community leaders and agency representatives are welcome to attend this information session. If you would like to attend or for more information, please contact Laura Webb.
