Hanover Approves Downtown Façade Incentive Projects for Fourth Intake
Hanover Council approved a staff recommendation Monday night to grant funding for 4 Downtown Façade Incentive Projects. The Town of Hanover’s Façade Incentive Program (FIP) was launched in 2014 and has seen an investment of $192,338.00 in grants from the municipality resulting in $685,370.00 in improvements to downtown properties.
The Downtown Revitalization Implementation Committee (DTRIC) is responsible for implementing and facilitating downtown revitalization efforts and have been recognized for the Public-Private Partnership when they won an Ontario Economic Development Award for the program.
DTRIC once again carefully considered applications for the fourth intake and awarded $24,439.43 in funding for an overall investment of $73,356.60 into downtown improvements. Congratulations to the following businesses who were approved during the fourth intake of the Façade Incentive Program:
Lyons & Co, 214 10th St - $13,458.04
Switzer Properties, 399 10th St - $5,250.00
Grey Rose Suites, 394 10th St - $3,699.38
Shewfelt Properties, 286/290 10th St - $2,032.01
“The Façade Incentive Program has resulted in tremendous improvements in the visual and structural condition of Downtown Hanover. Our downtown leaves a lasting impression with visitors and generates excitement with residents,” commented Mayor Sue Paterson. She added, “Council and Staff are pleased to support this program that encourages partnerships between local business and the municipality.”
The Town of Hanover’s Economic Development Manager, April Marshall, cited the success of the program as an opportunity to introduce additional incentives to all Hanover businesses. As Ms. Marshall explains, “the original program is set to end after the fourth intake. It has had a significant impact and great uptake with the downtown core. We will be looking at ways to continue and expand on the success of the program.”
