RE: OLG Slots Funding – 8th and 10th Avenue Reconstruction, New Backhoe/Loader, and Aquatic Centre Refurbishment
HANOVER - The Town of Hanover is pleased to announce that funds received from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for hosting OLG Slots at Hanover Raceway will substantially fund several 2017 capital projects.
$160,000 of hosting funds from OLG has been earmarked for 10th Avenue reconstruction; $525,000 for 8th Avenue reconstruction; $180,000 for a new backhoe/loader; and $185,000 for Regional Aquatic Centre refurbishment. The total amount of OLG funds allocated to capital projects during 2017 amounts to $1,050,000.
“We are so grateful for ongoing support of these funds which are used for community infrastructure and community development initiatives. The reconstruction of portions of 8th and 10th Avenue in 2017 included new sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, as well as new curb and gutter and sidewalk, which will greatly improve community safety. The purchase of the new backhoe/loader replaces our 1991 loader for more versatile municipal functions. The aquatic centre refurbishment completes phase 2 of this project. In 2017, the slide was refurbished, change rooms completely remodeled, electrical and mechanical upgrades completed and many accessibility issues were addressed,” said Mayor Sue Paterson.
“OLG is proud to be a vital part of Hanover for more than 16 years and we look forward to continuing to build on that support,” said Jake Pastore, OLG’s Director of Municipal and Community Relations. “Each and every year 100 per cent of OLG proceeds are invested in Ontario. From healthcare, to education, to community infrastructure, OLG proceeds are hard at work in Hanover and all across our province. And, we appreciate the contribution of Gateway Casinos employees in making life in the community of Hanover that much richer.”
The Town’s partnership with the OLG and Slots at Hanover Raceway continues to generate the completion of vital capital projects, offer an entertainment experience, create jobs and stimulate the regional economy.
