PRESS RELEASE - Municipal Services Impacted By Provincial Lockdown

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Town of Hanover’s first priority continues to be the health and safety of our residents, staff, and the visitors to our community. As a result of Premier Ford’s announcement on December 21 regarding a provincewide shutdown, the following municipal services will be affected as of 12:01 a.m. on December 24 until further notice:

Civic Centre (341 10th Street)

The Civic Centre will be closed. Appointments are available, if necessary. Payments can be made to the Town through on-line banking, mail and by using the drop-off box located adjacent to the main doors of the Civic Centre. Staff will continue to answer the phones during regular hours to provide information, maintain referral services and provide support.

P & H Centre

The P&H Centre will be closed. This will affect all regularly scheduled activities, including; public skates and drop-in skating programs, all third-party ice and facility rentals, all Aquatic Centre programming including all lessons and public swims, and the walking track.

Hanover Public Library

Hanover Public Library will be providing curbside pickup by appointment; service hours to be announced.  New online resources will be added to the library website soon, including streaming video, study and language learning resources, crafts and creative activities.  Calls to the library number will be responded to by staff so please leave a message.  Library staff will provide assistance with choosing books and movies, with setting appointments, answering general information and support questions, print and pick up service, virtual and no-contact children's activities, and help with using our online resources.  Please return materials and contest entries through the library drop box on 10th Avenue.

Launch Pad

Programming at Launch Pad Youth Activity and Technology Centre will also be affected.  Please contact Launch Pad directly to get specific details about each program. 

Municipal services including; police and fire services, road maintenance, water, wastewater, waste management and landfill operations, cemetery operations, and building inspections will continue as scheduled.For further information about municipal operations and the COVID-19 situation, please visit our website at www.hanover.ca and watch our social media posts.

The Town continues to work closely with the Grey Bruce Health Unit, Hanover Hospital, health professionals in Grey and Bruce County and our neighbouring municipalities to monitor and respond accordingly to the COVID-19 situation.
