Starting in 2021, permanent dog tags will be issued to each registered dog in Hanover for the lifetime of the dog. Visit the Municipal Office at 341 10th Street, Hanover from Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 4:30pm, to register your dog and receive your permanent dog tag.
Dogs are required to be registered annually. Registration expires on the 31st day of December. The Municipality shall keep a record of all dogs registered and tagged showing the owners name and address, description of dog and tag number. Dog owners listed on the register will be invoiced in January as per the fees prescribed by the Municipal Rates & Fees By-Law. If you no longer have the animal for any reason, the tag shall be returned to the Town of Hanover prior to March 31st. Any outstanding or late payments after March 31st shall be added to the final tax bill.
The tag must always be worn. A dog tag is the best form of ID for your dog. It will help with returning lost dogs to their owners. If your dog is picked up without a dog license you may be subject to additional fees.

Yard sales are an excellent way to minimize waste and maximize the reuse and recycling of household items in addition to putting some extra money in your pocket. There are, however, municipal bylaws that regulate yard sales.
Effective May 1, 2016, all yard sales shall be registered with the Town of Hanover. Residents having a yard sale can download the registration form https://hanover.burnpermits.com/ or online at www.hanover.ca/yard-sale and submit either in person at the Municipal Office, by mail to the Municipal Office, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, at least one week in advance of having a yard sale.
