The Town of Hanover invites you to join them in a local celebration of arts, culture and heritage as part of Culture Days. For the past four years, Hanover has played an active role in Culture Days by showcasing our cultural assets through organized events, activities and exhibits. Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of participatory arts and culture events across the country.

From September 25th through October 25th, we encourage everyone to join in the Dozen Donut Selfie Contest. Donut shaped selfie frames will be displayed throughout the town, where participants can take a photo, share and win! The donut theme pays homage to our local bakery in which Hanover is well known for, Schultz’s Gone Totally Baked. Twelve winners will be randomly selected from online posts using #InThisTogetherHanover and will each win a dozen donuts provided by Schultz’s.

Our primary day to celebrate Culture Days is Saturday, September 26th, at various times from 10am - 5pm. Activities include:

  • The Art Map Studio Tour. Local artist Bev Morgan will be hosting four guest artists with a variety of art mediums such as watercolours, acrylics, wood turning, jewellery and metal art works at her home studio. The Tour continues September 27 and October 3, 4.
  • Eat Well Farmers’ Market in Heritage Square, featuring local youth band, 100% Seasoned, and again in the afternoon. The market runs through October 10th.
  • Self-guided Saugeen Artists Guild Downtown Street Banner Project Tour.
  • Get your picture with a racehorse at the Hanover Raceway. The first 25 guests will get a free raceway t-shirt.
  • An Antique Plane & Car Display at the Saugeen Municipal Airport.
  • Hanover Lawn Bowling ‘Try-It’ Event (registration required).
  • Public Art Scavenger Hunt – with a chance to win dollars to spend locally!

Plus, watch for our Culture Feature in the September 24th edition of The Post.

More information can be found on our website hanover.ca/culture-days and on culturedays.ca.

In response to COVID-19, all activities will practise physical distancing, wearing a mask and hand washing / sanitizing hygiene. Events have been organized to primarily be outside and keep participants moving around.
