Town of Hanover Municipal Law Enforcement and Public Works share these reminders regarding winter maintenance to make our community safer and functioning during the winter.

From December 1 to March 31, parking is not permitted on Town roadways between 1:00am and 6:00am. Under the Town’s Parking By-law 3068–19, parking on a road in a manner which may interfere with winter maintenance is not permitted and will be enforced.

Section 4(2)(a) of the Streets and Boulevards Bylaw 3218-22 prohibits snow being pushed onto the sidewalk and roadway normally used for pedestrian or vehicular traffic, including right-of way as it creates a hazard. The fine is $200.00.

Using markers to delineate the sidewalk can be helpful to plow operators however, the road allowance should not have hazardous items which may otherwise injure a person.

Please ensure reflectors/markers remain on your property and not on the Town’s road allowance. Items on the road allowance are subject to damage from the plows and will not be replaced.

If you have a fire hydrant near your property, please assist us by removing snow to and around the hydrant within 24-hours after the end of the snowfall. Your ongoing efforts to help make our community safer is appreciated.
