Building Our Future Together
Hanover is a progressive and vibrant Town providing a great quality of life to our residents! In August 2023, Council approved our 2023 – 2027 Strategic Action Plan that was completed with the assistance of Linton Consulting Services Inc.
Input provided by Council, senior management staff, focus group attendees, and staff and resident questionnaire respondents shaped the Plan’s goals and actions. The Strategic Plan is our roadmap to achieve positive results for our community within this term of Council and beyond. The Plan includes 57 actions within the 5 goal statements. Council and staff are committed to working hard to make our community an even better place to live, work, play and raise a family.
Our Strategic Action Plan Goals are as follows:
Safe and Reliable Infrastructure | Build, maintain and continuously improve municipally owned properties, buildings, and equipment.
Healthy and Welcoming Community | Care for our natural environment and provide an enviable quality of life for everyone who calls Hanover “home”.
Strong and Vibrant Economy | Refresh Downtown Hanover and retain and attract local economic investment and jobs.
Balanced Growth | Work together to create a community we can all be proud of.
Open and Responsible Government | Deliver services in a friendly, efficient, and effective manner while providing an exceptional working environment for our employees.

Our Strategic Plan History
Hanover's first Strategic Plan was adopted in 2010. Subsequent strategic plan reviews and updates occurred in 2015 and 2019. The 2019 revised Strategic Plan included a re-confirmation of our vision, corporate values, valued features of our community, as well as, detailed four strategic directions and goals with prioritized recommended actions. Council and staff completed many of the actions during the 2018 to 2022 term of Council.
